German Alexander Zverev is back in front of the news due to an issue of domestic violence. Yes, his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova has openly stated through some media that she has been a victim of abuse by the tennis player. He also received accusations from another ex-partner who is also the mother of his son, Brenda Patea, with whom he allegedly settled.
However, the decision of a Berlin district court concerned Brenda Patea. His name does not appear in the sentence, but it comes from the lawyers who defend the tennis player and maintain his innocence, hoping to show at the trial that they believe it is mandatory.
The law firm Schertz Bergmann, which represents the player, said that “the competent service of the Tiergarten magistrate’s court will listen to the parties and then set a date for the trial.”
Today, the court determined a fine of 450,000 euros for Alexander Zverev for physically abusing a woman. “He was accused of physically abusing a woman during a dispute in May 2020 in Berlin and harming her health,” the official statement indicated.
The ATP, which governs the men’s professional circuit, opened an investigation in January but said there was insufficient evidence that the tennis player had committed gender-based violence on the Tour.
