Less than a year ago Red Bull became the F1 world champion. But seven of the engineers who were part of that team left for Lawrence Stroll’s team. And a few months later, the Aston Martin car was renamed “Green Red Bull”.
As a result of the first free practices of the Spanish GP, the excitation of the number of similarities between the two vehicles began. What made us think was that it might have something to do with changing engineers and possibly leaking them.
Red Bull has big doubts about this resemblance between the cars and therefore Helmut Marko commented on Sky Germany that “it’s important to clarify how our car’s incredible copy was reached“and added that we will examine this in detail. This is not just a question by Dan Fallows. We believe there is evidence that the data is being avoided.”
The FIA proceeded a few days before arriving in Spain to verify the legality of the aerodynamic improvement demonstrated by Aston Martin with which it was contacted: “During this process, it became apparent that a number of Aston Martin’s features resembled those of another competitor. Therefore, the FIA initiated an investigation to verify compliance with Article 17.3 of the Technical Regulations.and in particular the issue of ‘Reverse Engineering’ and possible illicit transfer of IP ”.
Despite this, Red Bull disagrees despite the fact that at first glance there are many similarities between both cars. But this is not new in F1, since recent years a similar event has been experienced in the “pink Mercedes”.
