The Uruguayan Diego Alonso, coach of Sevillehighlighted the “character” his team showed to overcome Celta’s early goal after signing the “worst” first half since his arrival.
“We didn’t do well and we didn’t come in as we should have. It was difficult for us to get in, but after his goal we reacted. In the second half we improved, we started to control the game. That speaks to the character of the team because it was a disadvantage, far from home, they proposed, they tied the knot and we were able to come back,” he commented.
He did not hide his anger at the result, but denied that his team’s poor start to the game was fueled by his players’ “lack of desire or lack of motivation”.
“My feeling is, we have to be behind to be that leading team that we want to be. Having three games and not winning, for us who expected to have more points, is a disappointment. We have to be self-critical because we need to continue improving,” he indicated.
Asked about the controversial penalty Hernandez Hernandez didn’t indicate after checking it on VARthe Uruguayan coach said “I’m not talking about the referees.”
“The referee gave a penalty, that VAR He had to check it out and after he took his time, he decided to change his decision. “It’s a difficult situation,” he said.
