2-0: Stuani’s double solidifies Girona in the ‘playoffs’

Date:

Girona beat Mirandés 2-0 in Montilivi and will need a point on the final day to dispute the promotion stage in the First Division. Stuani, with a double, was the protagonist of an almost quiet night for the catalans

Without any fear and with the necessary ambition to get three crucial points, Girona jumped on the field on a day where the fans carried themselves from the moment they arrived at the stadium. With the novelty of the system change to a line of four defenders in Juanpe’s absence, Míchel’s staff are back to being the recognizable team they have been at many stages of the season but, nonetheless, have not shown up in some of the previous against. .

The dominance was not translated into chances until almost half an hour into the game, when in the 26th minute, Arnau Martínez did not get through the millimeter to head to a Baena cross from the right. A minute later, the option went to Stuani, who sent the ball to the post, but never forgave again.

In the 39th minute and after a few minutes of superb Girona football, the first came for the locals. This time the action started on the left and Borja García assisted in the second post so that the “7”, at will, sent the ball behind the net with a nice header.

After the resumption the tone of the match did not change, but over the minutes and the accumulated fatigue in the legs of both teams began to notice and the match entered the stage of more back and forth. Baena, who was still trying, had the clearest chance in the 60th minute, but missed his shot after some good cuts inside the box. Brugui, the most active in Mirandés with Riquelme, tried to create danger, but without success. For Girona, who had them, the silence didn’t come until 90 ’, when Stuani, who hadn’t, ended up with a help from Samu Saiz in the middle of the area.
