The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced something new prize pool record for the Billie Jean King Cup Finalswith a monetary recognition of 9.6 million dollars for the players, of which 2.4 will go to the tournament winners.
Finalists will get 1.44 million dollars, semi-finalists 960,000 and those who do not make it past the group stage 480,000 dollars.
“We are proud to announce this news ahead of the start of the finals. Achieving gender equality in our sport is an important part of the ITF’s ‘Advantage All’ program, and I am delighted that we can offer prize money that equivalent to the Davis Cup again this year,” said David Haggerty, President of the ITF.
“We are committed to women’s sport and are pleased to help ensure that the prize money for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals is equal to that of the Davis Cup. I look forward to seeing a great competition and handing out the biggest check in the event’s history to the winning team,” said Dan Towriss, CEO and president of Group 1001, the parent company of Gainbridge, title sponsor of the competition.
