Kuss, winner of La Vuelta, tribute to Andorra and uncertain plans

The American Sepp Kusspresent Vuelta a España championwho received an award from Encamp (Andorra) where the Jumbo-Visma cyclist lives, said that the victory in the Spanish round “gave him a lot of confidence.”

The tribute to the American had 60 participants who braved the cold and climbed the Cortals de Encamp by bicycle. Afterwards, Kuss received a bouquet of flowers and a personalized illustration made by Xavier Casals.

“It’s been a great day since I did one of my favorite climbs in Andorra, which is pedaling the Cortals de Encamp. It’s also interesting because children, old people and even also some of my colleagues who live like me have accompanied me to the country,” said Sepp Kuss, who was able to celebrate his most important success so far as a cyclist at the family level. “It was a bit cold, but we enjoyed the win at La Vuelta a España,” he added.

After 2023 in which he finished fifth in the UAE Tour, the one from Durango chained three grand tours: he was decisive in the victory of Primoz Roglic in the Giro d’Italia and also in the victory of Jonas Vingegaard in Tour de France. He closed the year with a victory in the Vuelta a España.

Kuss ends his contract on December 31, 2024 with the Dutch team. “For me this season that ended was a ’10’ for winning La Vuelta and for being in three grand tours where two of my teammates won, both in the Giro and in the Tour,” explained he.

And for next season? “I don’t know yet what challenges I will face, but in any case, I am looking forward to the new season. It has given me a lot of energy to win La Vuelta,” said Kuss, who did not want to reveal which races he will compete in him next season.
