Corruption rocks women’s football: Inka Grings, in the spotlight

Date:

Inca Gringsselector Switzerland, who were Spain’s rivals at the last World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, is in the spotlight for a corruption case. According to ‘Bunter’, the German would have helped with the embezzlement cases Hermann Tecklenburgwife of Germany’s until recently coach, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, and the ex-husband of Grings himself.

Grings, 45, has now agreed to pay a fine in his home country, Germany. Hermann Tecklenburg is a construction contractor and president of the Straelen football club in North Rhine-Westphalia. Under his leadership, the club is said to have deliberately diverted money beyond the social security fund and the professional association for at least five years (from 2015 to 2020).

According to the ‘Rheinische Post’ there are a total of 513 cases and a total amount of around 630,000 francs in social security contributions and another around 200,000 francs in accident insurance. The total swindled: more than 800,000 francs (about 830,000 euros).

The fact is that Grings, between 2019 and 2020, has been the coach of the SV Straelen men’s team. According to investigations, he earned about double what he declared and apparently worked for a company owned by Hermann Tecklenburg, although he was never seen there.
