Date:

Italy still standing at Davis Cup Finals which is disputed in Malaga thanks for your number one, Jannik Sinnerwho rose in time from the Dutchman’s blows Tallon Griekspoor (7-6 and 6-1) to make it 1-1 in the quarterfinal series of the tournament.

For the second round, the best tennis players from each side met, with Jannik Sinner – fourth in the world ranking – for Italy and Tallon Griekspoor (23) for the Netherlands, in a match that threatened long, until Sinner managed to shorten it in the second sleeve.

The first set was very even, with points of a higher category than seen so far in the tournament. It’s not surprising because the level on the court is undeniable. And the truth is that they measured the number four in the world against the 23rd, with two very strong serves and a good display of punches.

At 4-4 and with 40 even, the match seemed to stop at a constant to you and me that, after a few minutes of exchanges, Griekspoor won, although then the Sinner achieved a blank game and forced sudden death.

In the tiebreaker, Sinner’s impressive forehand was able to win the first set and, from then on, there was no stopping the Italian from what was to come.

Because for the second set Sinner removed his most dominant version. In an instant, the tall player, recent finalist against Djokovic in the ATP Finals, proved the victory of the Italian team in a quarter of an hour of dazzling tennis (6-1) that left Tallon Griekspoor on the canvas.

With this victory, the Italian team will play their ticket against the Netherlands in doubles that will pit Sinner himself – finally replacing Simone Bolelli – and Lorenzo Sonego against the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor – replacing Jean-Julien Rojer – and Wesley Koolhof.
