An air pollutant leak is said to have occurred on Thursday during construction work in an apartment complex in Vienna-Favoriten. The professional rescue service as well as the Vienna fire brigade and police were present. A nine-month-old baby was also in the building during the incident.
This was confirmed by the media spokesperson of the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, Dario Steiner, in response to a “Krone” request. The operation took place shortly after noon on Raxstrasse. A special task force also had to arrive: the entire house was evacuated.
Construction worker was taken to hospital
It is not yet known how the air pollutants escaped during the work. A construction worker reportedly complained of breathing difficulties and is now in hospital. According to the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, nine other people were treated by rescuers. A nine-month-old baby is said to be among those affected.
There is now no more danger and the operation has ended.
