More and more cases – this is how dog snouts slow down the advance of bed bugs

Have you recently returned from a trip and perhaps left your suitcases or bags at home with “stowaways”? As reported, Austrians are also increasingly confronted with bedbug infestations. An expert trains dogs to track the small creatures, while other professionals battle them.

They crawl out of cracks, baseboards or even electrical sockets at night, suck the blood of sleeping people and disappear back into their dark corners – bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) leave itchy bite marks on the skin. And they travel – often in suitcases or clothing – around the world. No wonder that after the Corona pandemic they are increasingly moving into their bedroom.
