A tragic incident took place on Wednesday morning in the municipality of Hittisau in Vorarlberg: a house burned down completely – only one man could be saved dead.
On Wednesday morning at 5 a.m., the fire brigade alarm went off: When the Florianijüngers arrived at the house in Hittisau, the building was already completely ablaze and the flames were shooting meters high from the roof. Emergency services were only able to rescue a 48-year-old resident of the house from the rubble on the first floor.
A 50-year-old, the victim’s brother, was able to escape the flames in time and leave the house. He survived the house fire unharmed. The cause of the fire is still unclear and the police investigation is still ongoing. There were approximately 20 emergency vehicles and between 150 and 170 emergency services on site.
