On the way to Italy – aquaplaning: family crashed into the guardrail

Date:

A planned trip to Italy for a family of four from Upper Austria ended with an early morning accident near Wolfsberg.

“Due to the heavy rain that night, water has accumulated on the road,” police said. “The 46-year-old driver suddenly lost control of the wheel due to aquaplaning.” First, the car came to a stop against the central bulkhead and was then flung across the roadway into the right-hand guardrail. Only then did the car come to a stop in the first lane.

Alcohol test was negative
Fortunately, the driver and her two daughters (19 and 17 years old) suffered only minor injuries in the accident, the 47-year-old father suffered injuries of unknown extent. “After the first aid, the family was taken to the LKH Wolfsberg by the ambulance service,” the police continued. “The driver’s alcohol test was negative.”

The volunteer fire brigades of Preitenegg, Bad St. Leonhard and Wolfsberg deployed a total of 40 emergency services to recover the vehicle.
