Pedro Acosta (Kalex) set the main reference in the first round of free practice of the Valencian Community Moto2 Grand Prix, at the ‘Ricardo Tormo’ circuit in Cheste, to try to end the season as a ‘prophet in his land’.
Acosta achieved a best time of 1:34.024with just a tenth of a second ahead of the Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex) and the Spanish Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro).
Surprisingly, the first leader of the session was the Belgian Barry Baltus (Kalex)although only a few thousandths of a second ahead of British Jake Dixon and Spanish Pedro Acosta, who are mathematically world champions in the category.
In just four laps the situation completely changed and the real dominator of the last grand prix, the Spaniard Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro), “climbed” to first place with a time of 1:35.713, one tenth of a second which is faster than the Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex) and three compared to Acosta.
Aldeguer improved his time again on the tenth lap, where he lowered his personal record to 1:34.694then with 151 thousandths of a second ahead of the Italian Dennis Foggia (Kalex) and 166 on the Japanese Ai Ogura (Kalex).
Although Aldeguer lowered his personal best time again in the seventeenth lap, 1:34.257ahead of him was Arón Canet (Kalex), who ran 57 thousandths of a second faster than him, 1:34.200, although a good fight was established between the two until the end of the session, as for some time after Murcian La Ñora regained first place with 1:34.185.
And, as it could not be otherwise, in the final stretch the former world champion was ahead Pedro Acosta, who set a time of 1:34.024, was followed by almost a tenth of a second by Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex), 1:34.135 and Fermín Aldeguer himself.
