Youcef Atal, player for Nice, a French Ligue 1 club, is arrested Thursday afternoon for an alleged hate crime.
According to the newspaper ‘Nice Matin’, the fact that the player shared a video of Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hasanat in which he asked God “a black day for the Jews” and that will hurt “the hand of the Jews if they throw stones” This is the reason for the measure adopted by the French police authorities.
Because of those events, Nice immediately suspended the player and the Professional League slapped him with a seven-game ban.
On the 16th, the prosecutor of Nice announced the opening of an investigation for “promoting terrorism and inciting hatred or violence”, which finally resulted, according to the aforementioned source, in an indictment for “inciting racial hatred on religious grounds.”
