The Italian pilot Luca Marini and the team VR46 who ruled the Spanish Pablo Nieto and it is Italian property Valentino Rossihalf-brother of the first, has announced the ending a sporting relationship that had lasted six yearsat the end of the 2023 season.
A statement from the team states that “the time has come for both sides to pursue ambitious goals and results on different paths, although the entire team and people involved in the project wish Luca the best for his future.”
Valentino Rossi, who is at the ‘Ricardo Tormo’ circuit in Cheste, will have to decide shortly who he will replace in the Mooney VR46 team structure.
Luca Marini joined the Moto2 team at the end of 2017 and achieved his first podium at the German Grand Prix in 2018 and the first victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix in the same season.
In total Luca Marini amassed six Moto2 victories and became the first rider to take the VR46 to MotoGP in 2021.
In MotoGP, the half-brother of Valentino Rossi, whose destiny is the official Honda team that replaced the Spaniard Marc Márquez, achieved four pole positions, four podiums in the sprint race and two podiums in the grand prix .
