The records of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship

Date:

The 2023 season of MotoGP ended last weekend at the Valencian Community GP, a time to review what has been the year this year for the main protagonists and brands of the leading category of the World Championship.

The MotoGP World Championship states:

10

10. Ducati, owner and master

Ducati became the hegemonic brand with two versions of its Desmosedici, the GP24 and the GP23. They have spent the past two years going from fighting for the title on Fabio Quartararo’s Yamaha to making it their own in a three-way 2023 World Championship. His numbers over a long career are staggering: 17 wins out of a possible 20, a new record, and 43 podiums. In the last 46 races there has always been a Ducati

9. Bagnaia, a true No. 1

Pecco became the third rider in the MotoGP era to defend the crown after Rossi and Márquez and the first since Doohan with the number 1 on his bike. He again paid for some mistakes at the start of the campaign and handed the lead to Bezzecchi, but he didn’t budge when Martín started to come back as he was paying for the accident in Catalunya. Speed, coolness and intelligence in the service of the crown.

8. Martín failed to finish

Jorge Martín did not lose the crown to Cheste, he delayed the alirón until Cheste. After a gray start to the championship that saw him penalized in points since Misano, he recovered the pace and added victories to overcome a 66-point deficit and lead the championship after the Mandalika Sprint (+7) . The mistake that lowered his grade after a great championship from a satellite team fell with a 3″ advantage when he was the leader of the World Cup

6. Aprilia and KTM stop

Aprilia and KTM were expected to be Ducati’s counterweight in 2024 and they ended up on the same podiums they received: a 6.
It is true that two of those podiums were two victories of Aleix Espargaró for Aprilia while KTM added none in the long race and only two in the Sprint. Binder is the leader of the championship – fourth – but not regularly. And Aprilia had a flat tire from the Asian tour.

3. Yamaha and Honda, in crisis

The two factories that share most of the titles during the MotoGP season are going through their worst crisis that will force the MSMA to come to the rescue in the form of concessions for 2024. Honda won two podiums, the first by Rins in Austin , for in the fall of Bagnaia, and Marc Márquez’s third in Motegi; Quartararo contributed three-thirds to Yamaha. Honda led the number of falls: 29 Márquez and 24 Mir.
