The 2023 season ofl Burgos BH will end and it makes many moments worth remembering. The purple team achieved as many as seven victories in road tests this year, adding to the victories of Felipe Orts in cyclocross and mountain biking, in addition to excellent performances at the highest level of events such as the Vuelta a España. A sporting course where the youngsters of the team put in a lot of effort and the veterans showed their racing experience. Furthermore, the group that leads Julio Andrés Izquierdo had an international presence from January to December, extending its competition calendar into the final months of the year with cyclocross and track cycling events.

In his sixth consecutive year as UCI ProTeam, Burgos BH continues to bring the name of the province to different corners of the planet, showing the courage that distinguishes it from the competition. The season started in an unparalleled way with the fifth Spanish cyclocross Champion title for Felipe Orts who won a few weeks ago in Xátiva, Ribadumia or As Pontes, in addition to adding almost 20 top-10 finishes in international events such as the European Championship or World Cups in Namur, Hulst or Benidorm. The man from Alicante debuted in mountain biking a few months later, winning three races and, on his return to the mud, he already raised his hands in Marín and Melgaço, in addition to completing historic presentation for Spanish cycling in the World Cup and the Superprestige.

On the road the victories were not long in coming, confirming the good work done during the winter. Miguel Angel Fernandez won the sprint at La Tropicale Amissa Bongo in Gabon and Eric Fagundez He debuted as a purple, winning the national time trial championship. The Uruguayan stood out in his first year as a professional, finishing second at the Qinghai Lake Tour and third at the Pan American Games, in addition to competing in his first grand tour. His arrival in professionalism took place thanks to the agreement signed between Burgos BH and Team Cortizo, which would also result in the future association of David Delgado, Sinuhé Fernández and Sergio Chumil.

Another young man who confirmed his great talent and projection is Pelayo Sanchez, who in April won the final stage of the Vuelta a Asturias in front of his fans. Tellego’s rider was also second in the Andratx Trophy, fifth in the Tour de Doubs and third in the penultimate stage of La Vuelta that ends in Guadarrama. Performances that allowed him to jump to the WorldTour for the following season. A veteran like Jetse Bol took the mountain classification at the Vuelta a Castilla y León. The Dutchman is a fixture on getaways, where cyclists like Ander Okamika, Jesús Ezquerra or Ángel Fuentes. It should be appreciated in a very positive way. We finished in 32nd place in the UCI world team rankings. Every season we climb up little by little, but this season we took a bigger step if possible. You have to be proud that the team is improving year after year. We maintained a high level from the beginning to the end of the season, including in the Vuelta a España, which we finished with a good score.
