Recently, visitors to the Christmas forest in Thuringia (Vorarlberg) were not presented with a pretty picture. Unknowns vandalized the lovingly designed Christmas path and destroyed all decorative objects. Vandals were also involved in mischief in Hohenems.
Mayor Harald Witzer is shocked: unknown people have destroyed Thuringia’s Christmas forest over the past two days. On Facebook, he posted photos of decorative snowmen being kicked into the ground, broken lanterns and Christmas baubles.
“Sad toddlers”
Widower wrote: “There are moments that just make you sad, speechless. On Saturday, a number of people invested their valuable free time to rebuild our beautiful Christmas forest and make the eyes of many children shine. And then some people don’t know what better to do with their time than destroy everything again. The sad toddlers from Ludesch that I just met in the woods could no more understand it than I could.”
Looking for clues
The community is now hoping for information from the public so that the perpetrators can be held accountable. But it was not only in Thuringia that vandals unleashed their destructive impact; unknown people were also raging in Hohenems.
Head cut off
The magical forest there was demolished. Plastic bambi’s had their heads cut off and other decorative objects were also demolished. But there the scenes were recorded by a video camera. The community currently believes that youth are responsible for the destruction.
