From Seville to Tirana, Mourinho’s European finals

Jose Mourinhocoach of Roma, will play this Wednesday with him eighth european final. He has won two Champions Leagues and two UEFA Cups / Europa Leagues. He lost all three in the European Super Cup. Porto are the first team where he was declared continental champion: of the UEFA Cup and of the Champions League. Manchester United, the latter: as coach of the Old Trafford team he won the Europa League.

Mourinho could not hold back the tears when his Roma qualified for the final of the first edition of the Conference League, which will be played this Wednesday in Tirana against Feyenoord. To get to Tirana, the Portuguese Roma eliminated Leicester in the semifinalsthat, after 1-1 in the first leg at King Power Stadium, they beat 1-0 in the return leg at the Olímpico.

The Portuguese coach won his first European title as coach of Porto and he did so on May 21, 2003: 3-2 in extra time against Celtic at La Cartuja’s Seville stadium. A year later, the Champions League included the ‘dragoe’: 0-3 against Monaco in Gelsenkirchen.

At Inter, he won the Champions League in the legendary treble in 2010-11: the Negriazules beat Bayern 0-2 at the Santiago Bernabéu. Morinho then became to coach Real Madrid.

Mourinho’s fourth European crown is the Europa League he has achieved with Manchester United in the final against Ajax in Solna: 0-2. He didn’t do well in the continental Super Cups, where he lost to Milan, Pep Guardiola’s Bayern and Real Madrid, his former team. Against another historic team, Feyenoord (European champion in 1969-70 and Cup Winners ’Cup in 1973-74 and 2001-02), Mourinho wants a fifth continental title of his career.
