The Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) has announced the renewal for a period of Anabel Medina as captain of the Spanish tennis team, a position he has held since 2018.
Anabel Medina led the national team in the sixteen qualifying rounds of Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC), with twelve wins and four losses. The 41-year-old Valencian took over the Spanish team in World Group II and reached Finals in the last three editions, the latest in Seville last November.
The Olympic Games and the BJKC Finals, in November again in Seville, where it has a direct invitation, the big challenges for the Spanish team and Anabel Medina in 2024.
“I want to highlight the great commitment of the players and thank the Board of Directors, Miguel Díaz and Javier Soler for the trust they have given me in one year. From now on, I will work hard so that 2024 is a good year for women’s tennis in Spain,” said Anabel Medina.
“A 2024 full of great challenges awaits us with two events that make me especially happy: The Olympic Games in Paris and playing the finals of the Billie Jean King Cup again at home. This year the crowd in Seville was incredible and we have a huge desire to return in November to try to win the title,” said the captain.
For his part, the president of RFET, Miguel Díaz, expressed satisfaction with the continuation of the project. “We are pleased with the work of Anabel Medina at the head of the Spanish team.
