Chakib Lachgar Latrache was announced this Sunday IAU 50km world champion in Hyderabad (India) and led a Spanish podium which they finished Alejandro Jimenez Vicente with silver and Jesus Angel Olmos with copper.
Lachgar, who this year set his marathon personal best in Seville with 2h11:11, crossed the finish line first with a time of 2h48:18.
Second was Alejandro Jiménez Vicente, who clocked 2h49:30 and won the silver medal. At 38 years old, ‘El Balilla’ has found his best version over long distances. In 2022, he achieved his personal best in the marathon with 2h10:54 and in the same year he was proclaimed runner-up in Spain in the marathon.
The third place on the podium went to Jesús Ángel Olmos Pascual, who finished in 2h59:12, having already secured victory in the National of Burjassot with 2h50:43, at that time the third Spanish record in history.
In the women’s category the victory went to the British Carla Molinaro (3h18:23), the silver medal for the American Andrea Pomaranski (3h19:07) and the bronze for the British as well Sarah Webster (3h20:07).
