The former world number one in doubles, the British Tara Moore, was cleared of an anti-doping rule violation after International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said in a statement on Saturday that he pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Moore was provisionally suspended in June 2022 for having a banned substance in a sample she provided while competing in a WTA 250 event in Bogotá, Colombia, where she lost in the final.
The ITIA stated that its “A” sample contained metabolites of nandrolone and boldenone. Both substances are on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2022 list of banned substances.
Moore said he never knowingly used a banned substance during his career. However, the ITIA said an independent tribunal had ruled that the contaminated meat eaten by him and another player, lChilean Bárbara Gaticain the days before sample collection is the source of the prohibited substance.
“Consequently, no period of suspension has been imposed on either player, and the provisional suspensions imposed on each of them under the Tennis Anti-Doping Program are immediately lifted,” the ITIA said.
