Everything you need to know about ‘Boxing Day’: origins, history and fights played

There is and is spreading a myth called December 26 ‘Boxing Day’ just because around the containers on the streets of United Kingdom the boxes of gifts the children had received were piled up Christmas. And there is some truth about the need to remove the boxes, but the real source goes back to Middle Ages and it was because it was the day that the noble classes delivered a ‘Christmas Box’ as a bonus to service members.

However, it’s not just any day Englandand as far as football is concerned it is also a special date because on December 26, 1860 a Sheffield Football Club – Hallam Football Club which is considered the first match in the history of football as it is the first match in which the first rules of what is now the king of the sport are included.

For all that said, every year football England welcomes the ‘Boxing Day’a whole sociological phenomenon, and up to Premier League referred to, some matches are played that traditionally have the presence of the whole family and, since this cannot happen, more children than usual in the stands of the stadiums.
