These are the Spanish referee observers in the Champions League

Date:

Ten referees will return to Spanish arbitration from January 1, 2024 with new badges of Alberola Rojas and Muñiz Ruiz to fill the vacancies The hill and Mateu Lahoz who retired at the end of last season. They include eight who are currently there: Mril Manzano, Sánchez Martínez, Hernández Hernández, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea, Martínez Munuera, Munuera Montero, Soto Grada and Guillermo Cuadra Fernández.

But few know the body of arbitration observers that Spanish arbitration currently has within the current board of 181 members that currently make it up. There are eight referee representatives who each day in Europe are in charge of rating the referees both in Champions as in other European competitions. And four of them are part of the current CTA, starting with Luis Medina Cantalejo who, because of his position of responsibility, has hardly used this duty in this year 2023, which now ends with only two meetings; the latter was the rivalry at the end of last November in the Champions League in between Milan and the Borussia Dortmund. The head of VAR in our country also performs these duties, Clos Gomez assigned to up to ten meetings this year. The other two members of the RFEF refereeing body are Alberto Undiano Mallenco (8 matches) and Bernardino González Vázquez (11 matches).

The observer corps is complete Carlos Velasco Carballo, former president of the CTA and currently on the UEFA refereeing organization chart; who appeared in twelve games, the last in the Champions League.

Manuel Diaz Vegaformer referee and technical director of CTA with Sanchez Arminio, gave scores to referees in 10 matches. And the list is completed by a former international referee David Fernández Borbalán, former referee and current president of the Bulgarian refereeing team, who appeared in 10 matches and former Valencian referee Fernández Marín in 9 matches.

All of them must evaluate the performance of the referees and that is the key to the final classification established by UEFA.
