After Sunday evening’s rockfall, the Hochgallmigg district of the Tyrolean municipality of Fließ (Landeck district) with around 250 inhabitants is still cut off from the outside world – at least by road. An airlift had already been set up on Monday to provide supplies. 30 helicopter flights have now been made.
In order to restore accessibility by road as quickly as possible, work began immediately on securing the slope. However, the duration of the closure cannot yet be predicted; the next assessment of the situation will take place on Friday, the country said on Thursday.

To secure supplies to the population, an airlift was set up in collaboration with the federal army. About thirty flights have already been operated since Monday. Another 15 were planned for Thursday. “Among other things, additional material such as feed and food for the population will be flown to Hochgallmigg in view of the long weekend,” the report said.
Assistance for the time being until Friday
An “Agusta Bell 212” was requested for the Federal Army’s relief mission. “The flight coordination is carried out by the mayor of the municipality of Fließ, Alexander Jäger, in collaboration with the parliamentary group leader of the Hochgallmigg parliamentary group and the volunteer fire brigade,” explains Governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP).
The army’s relief mission has been extended at least temporarily until Friday, but the situation is “continuously assessed.”
