DAZN announced on October 30 that it will exclusively broadcast the Formula 1 World Championship in Spain until 2026 after acquiring the rights to the world’s leading motorsport competition. However, a few months later, this Friday, December 29, DAZN and Movistar Plus+ announced the continuation of their alliance, sharing the distribution of some sports content such as F1 and the MotoGP World Championship.
In the case of the F1 World Championship, DAZN has already made public on October 30 that it is assuming all content production, something that was previously managed by Movistar.
“DAZN consolidates its positioning in Spain and its exclusive offer that includes Formula 1, MotoGP, Premier League, League F and UEFA Women’s Champions League will be accessible to MiMovistar customers, who will be able to enjoy the most complete offer in sports in the market” , you read in the statement.
Today, the main doubt is knowing which team will broadcast MotoGP and Formula 1. In the case of MotoGP, on Thursday, until now the commentator of the World Championship on DAZN, Ernest Riveras, announced that he will leave his position to return to RTVE, So we have to see who will be in charge of giving voice to the MotoGP World Championship on DAZN from the 2024 season and which team remains.
As for F1, by taking over production from DAZN, the uncertainty of who will narrate the races is greater. Antonio Lobato left the door open for DAZN to present him with an offer, but it remains to be seen if said platform is more willing to bet on a new voice and a whole new broadcast team. It also remains to be seen what F1 programming is carried out and if a format of programs before and after qualifications and races like those previously carried out by Movistar Plus+ will be maintained.
