The Villarreal coach, Marcelino Garcia Toralwill face Valencia this Tuesday, whom he coached between June 2017 and September 2019, and whom unbeaten in last six occasions where they faced each other in the League.
To find a defeat for the Asturian coach against his next rival, you have to go back almost a decade, to November 2014, when he lost 1-3 at La Cerámica in his first spell in charge at Villarreal.
Since then, they have met six times with balance two wins and four draws with five goals for and two matches. These confrontations took place on the benches of Villarreal and Athletic and in their last three visits to the Mestalla they achieved two draws and one win.
Their last rivalry took place in September 2021 and on that occasion they signed a draw with the Basque team (1-1) with goals from Marcos André and Íñigo Martínez.
Marcelino disputes his first promise at Mestalla in the 2006-2007 campaign, his debut in the First Division, and then he lost 2-0 with Recreativo de Huelva. He also visited the Valencian fiefdom with Racing de Santander (1-2) and Zaragoza (3-1).
