The two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova the new year began by announcing that She is expecting her first child. He did this in a message on social networks accompanied by his partner, Jiri Vanek.
“On the first day of 2024, I would like to wish you a very happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will welcome a baby into our family this summer!”, the Czech player wrote on social networks.
Kvitova married Jiri Vanek, her longtime coach, in July 2023. At age 33, currently ranked 17th in the WTA rankings, the Czech won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014.
Kvitova was on the Australian Open entry list when the tournament released her in early December. It is not known if her pregnancy will change her plans for the first Grand Slam tournament of the year which starts on January 14.
