Date:

Taking over the most successful team in MotoGP history is a dream that every speed rider aspires to and Luca Marini recognizes it. The young 26-year-old Italian rider came to the Repsol Honda team with the motivation to bring the golden wing motorcycle to the top of the podium again. This is what the Italian said in an interview shared by his new team, the first being the colors already worn by his brother Valentino Rossi and Luca himself had worn as a child dreaming of one day becoming driver.

Where does your passion for motorcycling come from?

“It started when I was small, but every year it grows because at first you have a small motorcycle, which gets very little speed and then it increases the departure and the circuits and makes you more fun. Coming in the World Cup, the emotion I felt was unbelievable; I tried everything to make it my passion, my life and my job. Now that I’m in this team, in MotoGP, it’s a dream.

What made you join the Repsol Honda team?

“I was surprised when Marc said he was leaving this team, so I tried, with my manager and the other people who are always with me, to find contact with the team and see what possibilities I have with this new project of building a powerful motorcycle that I can win races and titles again. It went well, so we will start this new adventure in the best way possible.”

What do you expect to feel in this group?

“I think we will go to work a lot, I see and know a lot of people in the box, I really like working with the Japanese and their culture. On the bike we will push from the first moment because Honda needs to win races again as soon as possible.

What is your goal for 2024?

“Improve the bike, get good performance out of it. In terms of results, the first thing I have to do is beat my colleagues at Honda. It won’t be easy, at the moment I don’t have experience with the bike it, but I will do my best to try everything.

Before starting the season in Qatar, the #10 will return to the RC213V in the Sepang tests – from February 1 to 3 and from February 6 to 8 – and in Qatar – on February 19 and 20 –.
