Sivasspor clinched the first title in its history by winning the Turkish Cup after beating Kayserispor (2-3) in the final thanks to a goal in extra time by Senegalese Moussa Konaté.
The African, a substitute from the start, was provincial for Riza Calimbay’s team, who decided to bring him to the pitch in the 112th minute to replace Mustafa Yatabare. After two, Konaté recorded the winning goal and the title.
Sivasspor, who have only seventeen years in the elite of Turkish football, has not yet reached the Cup final. On its debut, it was successful against a rival who was not accustomed to bidding for titles, even though it became champion in 2008 in its single final.
Kayserispor came first
Kayserispor took the lead in the 33rd minute thanks to Ramazan Civelek but over time Sivasspor leveled off with a header from Gabonese Aaron Appidangoye.
The match went into extra time and Sivasspor took the lead with a goal from Ivorian Max Granel, although in the 107th minute the match regained the balance with a goal from Ilhan Parlak.
Since the match was heading towards penalties, Moussa Konaté was out of balance in the game six minutes from time.
