The former German international Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has suggested that FC Bayern make a tribute funeral for Franz Beckenbauer at the Allianz Arena, “the stadium that without him it does not exist“.
“The whole football world mourns for our friend Franz. FC Bayern, like respect and gratitudemust arrange a funeral for him in the stadium without which he would never have existed,” said Rummenigge in statements to the newspaper “Bild.”
According to the newspaper, Rummenigge talked about it with Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness and today there will be meeting to the club to study the possibility of Rummenigge’s proposal.
Beckenbauer is a key figure for Bayern as player and how too executor. The “kaiser’s” career coincided with Bayern’s rise to become the dominant force in German and European football.
