The FIFA is relentless in its prosecution of sexual harassment and, as it did with Luis Rubiales a few months ago, it decided to veto Marc Overmars international, forcing him to leave his position at Antwerp.
The former Dutch footballer came from carrying the penalty for KNVB (Netherlands Federation) transferred to FIFA and which, this Thursday, decided that this veto will be applied at the international level, forcing him not to continue in his position as sports director of the Belgian club, where he is from March 2022.
The overmars did not reach Belgium without payment. It all happened after the eviction Ajax after suspicious behavior with some club employees, who accused him sexual harassment, even sending intimate photos. Some facts for which he was denounced in July and for which he was punished by the Sports Law Institute of the Netherlands with one year and another conditional sentence.
Since it was a national sanction, that didn’t stop Overmars sign for Antwerp so far, that the FIFA intervened to lift the veto at the international level, although the Dutchman could appeal this decision.
