The Spanish woman of Moldovan origin Cristina Bucsa lost to Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the first favorite, 6-3 and 7-5thus bid farewell to the Adelaide tournament (Australia) in the round of 16.

Bucsa, who recovered for the main draw despite losing in the qualifying phase to Russian Anna Kalinskaya, She reached the second round after defeating Italian Jasmine Paolini in the first.

Against Rybakina, the Spaniard had no choice in the first set, although in the second she improved her performance. The Kazakh, seeded first in the tournament and the third player in the world ranking, won the duel in 1 hour and thirty-two minutes with eleven direct serves and 71% of the points were won on the first serve.

Cristina Bucsa, 61st in the world rankings, has never played against Rybakina on the WTA circuit.
