Reyes Pla, who in November won a bronze medal at the World Cups held in Belgrade, did not give even the slightest chance to his rival, in a match dominated by the Spaniard of all time.
As clarified by the cards of the five jurors who united gave the Spaniard the win in the first round.
A scenario that hardly changed in the second “round” in which Emmanuel Reyes Pla again won 4-1, after the Turkish judge’s decision to attack Ukrainian Marton.
But nothing could stop the Spaniard’s victory, who in the third and final attack did not want to severely punish Robert Marton, who had difficulty moving after injuring the calf of his right leg.
Gabriel Escobar, in the -54 kilos category, and Youba Sissokho, in the -71 kilos, were less fortunate, eliminated in the quarterfinals against Irishman Dylan Eagleson and Ukrainian Yurii Zakharieiev, respectively.
Escobar, who was declared European champion in the -52 kilos category in 2019, was left in the fight for medals after losing in a split decision (4-1) against the Irishman Eagleson.
Despite the start of the fight being dominant, as the three jurors proved that the Spaniard was chosen at the end of the first round, Gabriel Escobar gradually lost against the Irish boxer, which resulted in the win.
Also by split decision (4-1) also fell Spanish Youba Sissokho, who sometimes seems to be in a position to beat the current world champion, Ukrainian Yurii Zakharieiev.
Especially in the second round where Sissokho prevailed by the standard of three out of five judges. A result that seemed to motivate the Spanish boxer to try everything in the third and final round.
But in the end the jurors chose the Ukrainian boxer who sealed his ticket to the semifinals after winning 4-1.
