The men’s and women’s field hockey teams learned about their Paris Games rivals on Monday. The ‘RedSticks’ have been placed in group A, along with the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, France and South Africawhich was confirmed this Monday by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) after the end of the pre-Olympic tournaments.
Group B will be made up of Belgium, who won gold at the last Games in Tokyo 2020, India, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand and Ireland.
The FIH explained that the twelve teams were divided into groups based on their classification in the world ranking on January 21, to Group A includes first place, the Netherlands, and fourth, Germany.the fifth, Great Britain, the eighth, Spain, the ninth, France and the twelfth, South Africa.
Group B has Belgium, second, India, thirdAustralia, sixth, Argentina, seventh, New Zealand, tenth and Ireland, eleventh.
In its part, The ‘Red Sticks’ will play in group B, along with Australia, Argentina, Great Britain, the United States and South Africa.
Group A will be made up of the Netherlands, who will defend the gold won at Tokyo 2020 against Argentina in Paris, along with Belgium, Germany, Japan, China and France.
The competition starts on Saturday, July 27 and ends on Sunday, August 9 with the women’s final, the day before the men’s event. It will be played at the Yves-du-Manoir stadium, which already hosted the Parisian Games a hundred years ago in 1924.
