The tenth edition of the 10K Fem de València will be held on Sunday, March 3, in the center of the city with the aim of breaking the record of participants, which are 2,500 athletes.
This Friday, the Patio dels Scala of the Provincial Council of Valencia hosted the presentation of the test, which is the first 10 kilometer race in the female category to be held throughout Spain and, from this year, the only all-female popular test which has official approval from the Spanish Athletics Federation.
To commemorate these ten years, the organizing club ‘Nosotras Deportistas’ has included a lot of news told by director Maravillas Aparicio. The Sports Deputy of the provincial corporation, Pedro Cuesta, and Vicente Año, president of the Athletics Federation of the Valencian Community, also attended the event.
“We make famous runners look like professionals. The ultimate goal is for women to feel like athletes, and also to spread the values and benefits of sport to the female population,” explained Aparicio.
The main novelty is that the race will be included in the calendar of the Athletics Federation of the Valencian Community (FACV), so on that day there will be judges from the federation itself, who will give more officiality to the scores of the athletes.
“It gives an additional bonus to the test, and in addition to the fact that the times achieved will be official, it also means that the event is part of the federation’s calendar,” explained Añó.
Other novelties are that this year all runners who complete the route will receive a medal and the change of the last kilometer of the route, reducing its difficulty. “We increased the speed of the circuit,” Aparicio said.
The start and finish of the 10K Fem is located between Exhibition Bridge and Flower Bridge and the route passes through the most emblematic places in the city.
For his part, Cuesta pointed out that “for the Provincial Council the 10K Fem is not just another test. It is a very special race for all that it entails, because it has been one of the greatest advocates of promoting equality in sport, which is one of the priorities of our area.
Finally, like every edition, the organization has chosen a solidarity entity to which race participants can donate 1 or 3 euros. This time it will be the Association of the Valencian Community of Multiple Sclerosis (ACVEM). EFE
