Nieves Navarro and Bienvenido Ballester, winners of the city of Cartagena Sertri

The triathlon returns to the port city after two years without testing due to the pandemic, with almost 600 participants

Yesterday, the Triathlon Federation of the Region of Murcia organized a new session of its regional competition with the XV city of Cartagena Sertri Triathlon, which crowned Nieves Navarro, of Saltoki Trikideak, and Bienvenido Ballester, of Montilla Córdoba Triathlon, as winners. After two years of shutdown due to the pandemic, the triathlon celebration returned to the port enclave of Cartagena, with nearly 600 athletes competing in the various categories.

Bienvenido Ballester won the absolute men’s event, lifting the winner’s belt with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 28 seconds. Following him, in second place, was EQTR Rodacal Beyem triathlete, Eloy Canales Escribano, with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 35 seconds. Third position went to the Murcian Julio Sánchez, of the CT Murcia Unidata, with 1 hour, 3 minutes and 21 seconds.

In the women’s race, Nieves Navarro was champion in Cartagena with a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes and 56 seconds. Eva María Sánchez, from the Albacete Ingeteam Triathlon Club, came in second. Third place went to CT Águilas Primaflor’s triathlete, Rocío López.
