Duplantis won in front of his home crowd with a jump of 5.92 meters in Uppsala

Swedish Armand Duplantisdouble pole vault world champion, won with 5.92 meters at the festival of Mondo Classic celebrated in Uppsalain which seven other athletes participated, including the American KC Lightfootwhich came second to both brands.

The IFU Arena in Uppsala was packed with 2,400 spectators to see local idol, Duplantis, and other international pole vault stars in an event that has become an annual event in the Swedish city.

Duplantis won with a discreet mark, 5.92 meters, although he tried to clear six meters in three attempts at 6.02, a mark he never reached.

After winning the Astana (Kazakhstan) rally on January 27 with 5.80 meters, the Swede reached 5.92 in his event, and for the first time since 2021 he failed to clear six meters in two consecutive events.

Second was KC Lightfoot, also with 5.92, and in 2023 established a new American national record with 6.07 in a competition held in Nashville.

Fellow American Sam Kendricks, double world champion in 2017 and 2019, finished third in 5.82, along with Norwegian Pal Haugen Lillefosse and Frenchman Thibaut Collet.

Australian Kurtis Marschall, American Christopher Nilsen – current world leader with 6.01 – and Belgian Ben Broeders finished with 5.67 meters.
