The draw of Nations League 2024/25 took place this Thursday, with the current champion Spain placed in group 4 of League A with Denmark, Switzerland and Serbia. Chance is on friendly duty with the team led by Luis De la Fuente facing the defense of the title, but in this sense it is worth highlighting this one peculiarity League of Nations and the previous editions did not have: the presence of the quarterfinal as access to the ‘Final Four’.
So far, having three editions with Portugal, France and Spain As champions respectively, the four League A group champions entered the ‘Final Four’, but in this fourth edition things will change. The first and second in each group will advance to the quarterfinals and it is in that round that tickets will be distributed for the final match for the title. Therefore, it may happen that a League A group champion is not in the ‘Final Four’ and a group runner-up ends up being the champion. It could happen, for example, that Spain topped its group by finishing with Denmark, Switzerland and Serbia but was then eliminated in the quarterfinals by a strong team that finished second in its group.
The Nations League 2024/25 It starts in September 2024, with the start of the group stage, and ends in June 2025 with the aforementioned ‘Final Four’. The quarterfinals, which will only take place in the case of League A (the highest division) will be played in March 2025. They are round-trip and coincide with the respective ‘playoffs’ where promotions and relegations between division.
