Fede Valverde, Real Madrid midfielder, admitted that they did not play a “good game” despite winning against Leipzig (0-1) in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
“Happy with the team’s result and effort. We didn’t play a great game, but the top three did an incredible job, with and without the ball,” he commented to Movistar Plus.
“In the first minutes, it was difficult for us, especially with that goal that was disallowed because of offside. We must improve that, we cannot give a goal to react. We waited a long time for those minutes and we struggled. In the second half, we did a better job, defensively and in attack,” he added.
A Valverde who highlighted the performances of Brahim, scorer of the only goal of the match, and Lunin, who made nine saves.
“I am very happy for Brahim. “He is not a player who wins the position, but every time he comes out he does it in the best way and that is important for the whole team,” he declared.
“Thanks to Lunin because she is so beautiful. “He did a very mature job in a difficult field and being the biggest responsibility for a goalkeeper,” he said.
