Carlos Moya, coach ng Rafael Nadal, complained that the organization of Roland Garros did not listen to his student’s request to play the quarter-final match against the Serbian on the day Novak Djokovic, finally scheduled on night shift.
“I wouldn’t say that it is disrespectful. Here, at Roland Garros, Rafa has a credit, he has won the tournament thirteen times and if he has a request they should listen to it,” the former tennis player told French radio RMC Sports.
“It is part of the history of Roland Garros, we know that nobody is bigger than the Grand Slam tournaments, but in the end it is a matter of business and we understand it,” he added.
Nadal requested that this match be played during the day, considering that his tennis is less aggressive for rivals in night conditions, with more humidity and cold.
But the organization decided to schedule it from 8:45 pm local time
