Carlota Ciganda (71) tied for 14th place after the first day of Aramco Saudi Ladies International, scoring tournament for the European women’s circuit. The Navarrese golfer is five shots behind the leader, the Thai Patty Tavatanakit (66), author of seven birdies and one bogey.
Ciganda made a birdie on the 7th hole and an eagle on the 12th, but two bogeys on the 15th and 17th prevented him from finishing higher at the end of the day. Tavatanakit has a one-shot advantage against the South African Paula Reto (67) and two compared to Danish Nicole Brock Estrup (68) and the Belgian Manon De Roey (68).
The other Spaniards in the running finished above par 72 on the Riyadh course: Ana Peláez (73), María Hernández (75), Marta Sanz (76), Carmen Alonso (77) and Nuria Iturrioz (78).
