Adel Mechaal and Laura Luengo went for the Cursa Patrimoni Eivissa record

The athlete Adel Mechaalbrand new Spanish 1500m and 3000m champion, and marathon specialist Laura Luengo compete with Course of Patrimoni Eivissa on March 30, the organization announced to its networks.

Catalan Adel Mechaal, the national record holder of 1,500 meters on an indoor track, will challenge in Ibiza the national record of 10 kilometers on the road, which he holds. Abdessamad Oukhelfenwith a period of 27:44 achieved in Valencia.

Mechaal, who competed in the test last year to study the circuit, assured that in the last edition he participated “with a small ankle problem” while this year he will seek the “10K record in Ibiza .”

Despite these physical problems, Mechaal won the 2023 Heritage race with time to spare 28:43, marking the new record for the test, which this year will have a circuit designed to break the record. Furthermore, Mechaal already holds the third best mark in history at 10K on the roadwith 27:50, in the Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa test.

This year’s Heritage events will also feature the national half marathon record holder, Spanish distance champion and third national 10K road champion, Laura Luengo.

In this circuit, Luengo will seek this test record, in the hands of Lydia Campo from last year (33:52), and improve on his personal best in the 10K, which now stands at 32:20, the eighth best mark in history in Spain.

In this way, this test held on the Ibizan island aims to position itself as the fastest 10K road race in Spain, designed to achieve good scores, both for athletes and famous runners.

The test, created to highlight the architectural, cultural and historical wealth of Ibiza, with the walled enclosure of Dalt Vila, will celebrate a special edition on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the declaration of Ibiza as a World Heritage City, of UNESCO.
