Japanese Hideki Matsuyama posted a stellar round of 62 this Sunday, nine under par, and was crowned champion of the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles (USA), three strokes ahead of Luke List and Will Zalatoris.
Matsuyama posted a round of 62 that had not been recorded at Riviera Country Club since Phil Rodgers achieved it in 1962, according to official PGA statistics.
The Japanese left on Sunday and finished a tournament with four rounds under par. He scored a -2 on Thursday and two -3s on Friday and Saturday.
He came back six shots back and won the ninth tournament of his PGA career, his first since the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2022.
List and Zalatoris did not exceed a total of fourteen under par.
Patrick Cantlay, who became the solo leader this Sunday, carded a 72 stroke, one over par, and finished third.
