The classification of day 1 of F1 2024 testing was heavily dominated by Max Verstappen. Everyone expected more parity at the start of the preseason tests, but Red Bull and Max They pulled out all the stops to make it clear that they should be top favorites for everyone again with a much renewed car.
Max Verstappen He led the classification on the first day of F1 2024 testing both in the morning session, beating Leclerc by 0.699 in Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and at 0″837 in Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin. Max was one of the few to ride all day, in the morning and afternoon sessions, and he continued to dominate in the afternoon, improving his time to 1’31″344, a second and a half better than his best time from day 1 of exam from last year.
Alonso, good start to the morning
Fernando Alonso had a good start, riding alone in the morning. He did so by being the driver with the most laps in the morning session with 77 laps, 11 more than Verstappen. Furthermore, Fernando did not suffer a single problem with his Aston Martin and gave the impression that he was driving comfortably and the times came easily and quickly. Looks like a good start in a very tight middle zone.
For his part, Sainz set the third best time, just riding in the afternoon with a Ferrari that needed to show more cards to show its speed and show whether or not it could compete with a very strong Red Bull.
