Alex Lowes, the fastest at Phillip Island; Bautista and Rea, not in the Top10

The British Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) then the fastest in practice on Friday for first test of the Superbike World Championshipwhich takes place in Phillip Island (Australia), while the Spaniard Álvaro Bautista (Ducati), defending champion, and multi-champion Jonathan Rea (Yamaha) done outside the ‘top 10’.

Lowes has squeezed the improvements that Kawasaki has developed for this season to the point of beat the track record with a 1:29.042which allowed him to finish in the lead, followed by the first official Ducati ridden by the Italian rookie. Nicolo Bulega (1:29.101), dominated last year at this circuit in Supersport.

Bautista had a difficult day again. The problems relegated him to eighth place in the first session with 1:30.034 and in twelfth in second with 1:29.572even worse for Rheathat, in his debut on Yamaha, after developing his career on Kawasaki, could only be finish sixteenth with 1:30.097.

On the other hand, the Spanish Iker Lecuona (Honda) will not be able to compete after tripping in Tuesday’s test and injuring his shoulder. He went out on the track this Friday for both training sessions but, after a final check, he was declared ineligible for medical services.
