The coming to light of Barça’s plans regarding the Palau Sant Jordi yesterday caused an angry reaction from the part of Barça fans, who interpreted this move by the club as a weight reduction in the commitment to a new Palau Blaugrana. The club assures that this is not the case and they are working with the aim of finishing playing as soon as possible in the new 15,000-seat pavilion that is being planned.
As mentioned in the October meeting, the new Palau should be inaugurated at the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028, after a year and a half of the development of its project (it should be completed in the first quarter of 2025) and two and nine year month of effective construction.
However, some internal sources in the club are not categorical about meeting that deadline and point out that the new Palau should be ready before the end of Joan Laporta’s second term (if he is re-elected in 2026) in 2031.
