The Polish Hurkacz, eighth in the world, joins the Estoril Open

Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkaczeighth in the world, the latest addition to the lineup of Estoril is openwhere it joins Norwegian Casper Ruud as the favorite, as announced this Wednesday by the organization of the Portuguese event.

Hurkacz27, will hit the slopes of the coastal town of Estoril, outside Lisbon, after 2023 was crowned with victory at the Shanghai Masters 1000 and a solid start to the season, where he reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Known for his powerful serve – his record is 234 km/h – and his height – 1.96 meters -, the Pole will look to improve on his performance last year at the Portuguese event, where he lost in the second round at the Spanish Bernabé shoes

Hubert Hurkacz is the first tennis player in the top 10 of the ATP rankings announced for the next edition of the Estoril Open and is emerging as one of the favorites along with Ruud (11th), who will defend the title won in the previous one. The Italian Lorenzo Musetti (26th) and the French Gael Monfils (54th) are two more names that have been confirmed.

The Estoril Open, an ATP 250 clay court tournament, will celebrate its ninth edition between March 30 and April 7. Among its winners are tennis players such as Spaniard Nicolás Almagro, Pablo Carreño and Albert Ramos or the Argentine Sebastián Báez.
