To ensure the new 2024/25 format offers the best for clubs, players and fans, the UEFA its design was based on extensive consultations with key stakeholders in the European football community. The final format, access list and calendar of European club competitions was approved on May 10, 2022, following the decision of UEFA on April 19, 2021 to introduce a new competition system.
“The UEFA has clearly demonstrated that we are fully committed to respecting the core values of sport and promoting the fundamental principle of open competitions, with classification based on sporting merit, fully in line with values and the European sporting model based on unity,” said the president of UEFA, Alexander Ceferin. “I’m really happy that it was a unanimous decision by Executive committee of UEFAwith the Association of European ClubsThe European Leagues and the national federations in accordance with the proposal. “Another proof that European football is more united than ever.”
