Emma Hayes will make his debut as a coach with the women’s teams of United Statess in two friendly matches against South Korea in June, the United States Soccer Federation announced a few hours ago. Hayes will leave Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea when the season ends in May.
“It will be exciting for everyone to have Emma on board for the June meets,” said US interim coach Twila Kilgore, who will join Hayes’ staff as an assistant coach.
The United States will face South Korea in Commerce City, Colorado, on June 1 and in St. Paul, Minnesota, three days later. The two friends will be part of their preparations for this year’s Paris Olympics, with two more matches taking place in July.
“We need as many quality games as we can to get into the Olympics and Korea will provide a good test…” added Kilgore. “The games in Colorado and Minnesota are the last international games before the Olympic team is selected, so they will have an added advantage.”
